About S.R. Gillingham
Suzanne grew up on a dairy farm in the Driftless area of southwestern Wisconsin. There was a lot of hard work involved but also plenty of time for reading and daydreaming, something she excelled in.
Upon graduating from Edgewood College with her master’s degree in business administration, Suzanne embarked on a career in nonprofit accounting and financial management which eventually brought her to AIDS Network. She worked there for twenty wonderful, though often sad, years. Over the course of those years, she met and talked with many men about their lives. Her books hope to do justice to their struggles.
Now that she’s retired, she spends her days reading, walking (with friends and with herself), drinking steaming cups of hot tea, and of course, writing all the stories living inside her head. She hopes her dad, the family storyteller, would be proud.
He loved telling his family and friends about his life in rural Wisconsin during the years he grew up. Oddly enough, or perhaps not oddly, Suzanne’s short stories seem to be memoirs of her childhood. Her short story, Last Conversation, was published in Creative Wisconsin, (October 2025), the magazine of the Wisconsin Writers Association.
She is a member of the Wisconsin Writers Association and the Author’s Guild.
